GIRLS DO SKA TOO

For some reason no one made a post, that BRASS KNUCKLES are the final addition to our Chubby Pickle line up. Mon frere's band (Jason Dahl, co-organizer of STG). When's the last time you saw girls in a ska band in Windsor? Don't even waste your time thinking about it, Brass Knuckles, affectionatly known as B-Nuxx, are all you need to know. No longer is Lot 9 Brawl the sole rulers of the Windsor-Ska scene, BK, popped out of no where and pretty much surprise attacked Windsor.

Listen to some rough recording on their myspace: www.myspace.com/dabrassknuckles.

The key additions to this band are newcomers Gisele Martel (guitar) and Abby Reisner (saxaphone). These girls bring ska like no other with help *ahem* of Jason, Aaron and Justin. They represent the goal I was trying to get at when I first started out two years ago.

Get Girls into Playing Live Music! especially ska and punk.

They will be playing March 27th on behalf of Smash the Glass at the Chubby Pickle.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

march 8th, marks the day that women all around the world are celebrated for their success and achievements.

"Annually on 8 March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world ranging from political rallies, business conferences, government activities and networking events through to local women's craft markets, theatric performances, fashion parades and more.
Many global corporations have also started to more actively support IWD by running their own internal events and through supporting external ones. For example, on 8 March search engine and media giant Google some years even changes its logo on its global search pages. Year on year IWD is certainly increasing in status. The United States even designates the whole month of March as 'Women's History Month'.
So make a difference, think globally and act locally !! Make everyday International Women's Day. Do your bit to ensure that the future for girls is bright, equal, safe and rewarding."

HERE WE HAVE IT

I am thrillllled to let you all know that LIONESS ttp://www.myspace.com/lionesslionesslioness
are headlining SMASH THE GLASS DAY 1 March 26, at Phog.

Where do I even begin about this dynamic threesome. With 2 parts controller.controller. and 1 part No Dynamics, one could only imagine the electrifying music that would be created when mixed together.
Vanessa Fischer, Jeff Scheven, Ronnie Morris are LIONESS, hailing from Toronto, Ontario.

"Their sans-guitar sound is like a head-on collision of old and new, as Fischer draws upon jazz, old soul and blues, roaring and moaning over layers of electronic squall and elastic rhythms like a witch in heat. It’s a clash of organic and synthetic, the sound of disco and house music filtered and distorted through the instrumental apparatus of live rock and roll. On stage, they are a synthesis of electronic rock band and performance art project, a drum and bass wall of sound bathed in red light. "

They recently released an EP last October called LIONESS, on the label New Romantic.

the well-come centre for human potential

I AM PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE THAT THIS YEAR'S PROCEEDS WILL BE COMPLETELY
DONATED TO:

THE WELL-COME CENTRE FOR HUMAN POTENTIAL
The Centre provides community education and support organization for low income women and their children. They have an 11 bed shelter for homeless women, offer a variety of educational and support programs, a food cooperative program, an emergency food bank, life skills workshops and credit and debt counselling.
As a social worker I feel that women's shelters are very neglected in terms of funding.
All the more reason to come out to SMASH THE GLASS this year! Your money is going towards great causes!
